Traditional Dance Company
SUSTRAIAK (roots)

This show was created 10 years ago and, as it name suggests, it represents the roots of our folklore. They have been built up along the years and were reconstructed by former generations, thanks to what we can enjoy such a peculiar and rich traditional culture.

The show lasts approximately one hour and a half, and consists of five parts which correspond to different Basque Provinces (Bizkaia, Zuberoa, Behe-Nafarroa, Lapurdi and Gipuzkoa). In each of these parts the most representative dances of each province are represented in a way that the audience can experience the essence, the root of the dance, so the outcome is a eye-catching and entertaining show.

In Sustraiak there are up to forty dancers and fifteen musicians on stage, so it requires an adequately large staging format. One of the main requirements is to have a large enough space on disposal, both on stage and in the changing rooms. The show is conceived to be represented in closed or open spaces, night or day (although the colourful ambience created by the light effects would not be appreciated)
